Thank you for taking the time to review our olive oil, I'm sorry to hear it didn't live up to your expectations. The pouches are designed to be decanted but also to pour from so thank you for the note regarding your struggle with this.
I wanted to take time to reply regarding the 'single-use plastics' as this is something we have considered highly in our product. We obviously understand your concern. Our founders were very hesitant to introduce EVOO in plastic pouches for the same reason, but after talking to a bunch of experts in the space, they found this to be the best solution for our refills for a few reasons.
Packaging can absolutely destroy extra virgin olive oil and some materials and plastics just don't work for it. For example we continue to look at plant-based plastics and biodegradable options—but can't currently use any as EVOO will degrade in that environment.
We’ve also made sure that the pouches will be fully recycled—you simply write 'FREEPOST SAVEOURSOIL' on them, pop them in your nearest post box and we make sure to transform them into a new product.
Our aim is to highlight delicious olive oils to consumers, whilst creating a fairer system to our farmers, ensuring prices to them that are well above the market rate.
